UTOPIA is a visual exploration of the concept of ‘utopia’ as the place “just beyond” the horizon, an ideal you can’t quite see or reach, and a nostalgic ever-place that is formed in the audience’s mind. The performance is a collaboration with writer Thomas Eccleshare, lighting designer Beatrice Rocchi, and composer Caroline Devine, with additional choreography by Joe Wild.
It is a Brave New Worlds Production. It was originally developed through a Barbican Pit Lab in 2013 and performed as a work-in-progress at The Yard Theatre in Hackney Wick, London. It was developed further at The Point, Eastleigh with performances at the MK Gallery, Milton Keynes and Block 336 , London. UTOPIA was selected as part of the UK Pavilion as part of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space in 2015.
